New Japanese study says Green Tea may ease mental Distress.
Drinking 5 cups a day may reduce incidence of psychological distress by 20 percent.
In the study of 42,093 Japanese people 2,774 people or 6.6 % suffered from psychological stress and green tea was said to improve psychological well being. Stress is one of the most important risk factors to health in general. Researchers from Tohoku University Graduate School of medicine report their findings in the American Journal of clinical Nutrition.
Green tea and it's extracts already have a positive reputation. There are studies saying it may offer protective effects against Alzheimer's and certain cancers, improve cardiovascular and oral health, and play a positive role in weight management.
The four primary polyphenols found in fresh tea leaves are epigallocatechin gallate EGCG,epigallocatechin EGC and epicatechin EC. An earlier Japanese study reported that green tea extracts may offset the signs of physical and mental fatigue associated with modern stress full lives. Five days with supplementation with ECCG was found to reduce levels of oxidized species related to fatigue in an animal model, according to findings published in the studies.
Green tea is said to contain over four times the concentration of antioxidant catechins than black tea about 70 mg catechins per 100 ml compared to 15 mg per 100 ml for black tea.

- Pay attention to other beverages consumed along with the green tea as green tea is naturally caffeinated. Try choosing decaff instead or limit other caffeinated drinks when supplementing with Green tea. Drink plenty of water as caffeinated tea can dehydrate you.
- Other stress reducing and relaxing herbs and amino acids are;
Gaba (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid), L-Tyrosine, Rhodiola Rosea Root extract, Chamomile, Kava kava,
Catnip, Skull Cap, Passion Flower, Hops & Valerian. - Please remember that herbs are plants with medicinal chemicals inside and they can interact with certain conditions as well as medications. With herbs if it has not been grown using phytoecology you probably cannot measure the amount of chemical in each plant, so medicinal properties may vary. Please check contraindications (drug or condition interactions) to make sure you are not taking something that may interfere with other medications or conditions.
