"Mind, Body & Spiritual Health Series" #5 (2009) "Healthy habits, Immune Boosters & Natural Treatments"

One of my brothers said I should post up some household herbs that boost the immune system. With all this flu shot talk and other nonsense I thought what a great idea. I decided to address a few things in addition, as just adding herbs to your diet will not boost an already ill treated immune system. We must lay the foundation with some healthy habits to facilitate healing and strength in our body systems. I apologize in advance for caps all over the place, lack of punctuation or misuse of grammar. I was getting tired and I do not have an editor I'm typing into Facebook. I forgot to open word lol this is all me baby.

Here are the core principles to good health....

Disclaimer LOL
REMEMBER I AM NOT A MD NOR AM I CLAIMING TO DIAGNOSE, TREAT OR PRESCRIBE ANYTHING, THIS IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AND IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL CONDITION PLEASE SEE A LICENSED HEALTH PROFESSIONAL.

  • Clean water, boil it, buy it try it lol...
At least 8-10 cups daily. If you like it drink your weight in ounces.
Water is the most important nutrient and it should not be neglected or substituted. Drink it!!
In 30 days your skin will notice, being a solvent it flushes fat and cholesterol from your blood stream.
I could go on and on

  • Get on a whole food kick, no not the grocery store I mean whole unprocessed food. The basics.
Leave the bag and package alone pick up some nuts in bulk, fruits, raw veggies, even frozen is better if you can't do fresh. Processed foods are usually murdered. You want to eat life not death.
We need the nutrient to live, dead foods create dead humans. I won't start on the additives and preservatives in processed foods. Leave processed and fast food alone as much as you can!

    Choose whole grains & Legumes
    Fresh fruits & veggies
Healthy oils = real ones, man made oils may not get rancid (yes oil spoils so stop saving chicken grease)
but it is not healthy. Most vegetable oils get rancid or come to you rancid eeewww.
Try monounsaturated oils like olive & canola oil,yep they cost more but you don't need all that greasy stuff no way!
Proteins, do more fish and less red meat, leaner cuts. Fish are full of omegas, DHA & EPA (look that up). Fermented milk products (if you drink milk) like Greek or Middle Eastern Yogurt, try organic real yogurt not that sugary crap, try Kiffur.
    Read your labels on foods

  • Add movement to your life you have over 600 something muscles. Use them, we were not made to be sedentary. Walk, dance, do yoga, Tai chi, karate, run, sports, what ever. Also focus on your posture. be one with the Tree lol.
Proper posture and movement can help prevent arthritis, heart disease, muscle stiffness, stroke, type 2 diabetes.
Decreases blood pressure, body fat, cholesterol. improves balance, circulation, IMMUNE SYSTEM, muscle strength, self esteem, sex life lol...

  • Fat control; cut down fats, eat more complex carbs (increase fiber) whole grains, legumes, brown rice ect (white grains are bleached and depleted of nutrients). Cut sugar. Double fiber, 30 grams a day. Fiber helps push food out of the digestive track before excess fats are absorbs, cleans the small intestines and absorbs toxins in the large intestine.

  • Get acquainted with natural remedies and vitamin and mineral supplements.

    Basic plan

Green tea extract, bioflavonoids found in teas,
Did I mention vitamin C is a viral fighter, it can decrease histamine levels for folks with allergies (2000 mg or more) try it buffered. Make tea from lemon, lime and grapefruit peels, rutin from buck wheat, hesperidin or rose hips. Eat more apricots, asparagus, cauliflower, mustard greens, broccoli, strawberries, guava, mango, cantaloupe & tomato juice for vitamin C.

  • HERE ARE SOME HOUSEHOLD & GROCERY STORE ITEMS!!!

Get the green house ready Chanowk!

Herbs and spices are rich sources of natural substances that have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties that support the immune system. Try ginger, garlic, fresh herbs (rosemary, oregano, basil, etc.), spices (cinnamon, turmeric, cloves, etc.) and honey.

    Lemons !!
Drinking freshly squeezed lemon juice in water, or adding it to tea, salad dressings (in place of vinegar), baking or cooking, helps maintain the body's internal "climate" at a pH which supports healthy bacteria instead of the viruses and harmful bacteria which thrive in more acidic environments. Apple cider vinegar is another great way to improve your body's alkalinity, but the taste of lemons is much more pleasant!

    Carrots

Great source of VITAMIN A/BETA-CAROTENE - makes white blood cells that help destroy bacteria and keep the mucous membranes of your eyes, respiratory tract, and digestive system strong, so they can form a protective barrier, keeping germs out of your body.

    Mushrooms

Great source of SELENIUM - is a powerful antioxidant, meaning it kind of acts like a bodyguard, preventing substances from attacking and damaging your cells' DNA. It also helps your immune system's neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) kill microorganisms.

    Oats

Great source of VITAMIN B 6 - helps maintain the health of your lymphoid organs (thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes), which make white blood cells.

    * White tea extract -- support for your immune system*
    * Green tea extract -- more support for your immune system*
    * Apple -- support your immune system and lungs *
    * Blueberry -- support for your urinary tract and immune system*
    * Broccoli -- support for your healthy prostate and immune system*
    * Orange -- support for your immune system*
    * Prune -- support for your brain and immune system*
    * Spinach -- support for your healthy immune and cardiovascular systems*
    * Strawberry -- more support for your healthy immune and cardiovascular systems*

Oh and priceless: get a good nights sleep!!

Ok, so you started to late in the game and your sick. Here are some natural alternatives to antibiotics
which are becoming more and more ineffective and also dangerous by killing natural friendly bacteria.

  • Keep clean LOL use vinegar & hydrogen peroxide to safely and effectively kill germs.
Don't mix them together use separately on surface,(spray one then the other) its known to kill more bacteria then chlorine bleach play with it!

  • Coming down with a sore throat, gargle with salt water (1 teaspoon salt to 1 cup water) or germ killing mouth wash. The bacteria usually drips from the inflamed sinus, if your brave wash your nasal cavity with salt water :) (ad a pinch of balking soda to the salt water solution) They have sinus irrigation pots with instructions very helpful for allergies as well.

  • While fighting infections your body uses extra nutrients, double up on your vitamin regimen. Remember my favorite vitamin C 1000 -2000 mg combined with bioflavanoids (green tea read my first article lol) and plenty water. Avoid sugar. Vitamin A is also anti infection. It is a stimulant that boosts the thymus gland. The key to good health is a healthy mucus membrane and the thymus gland maintains this. 10,000 - 30,000 IU's daily for a week will help.

  • Try to let your fever fight the bacteria, heat kills bacteria. Do not attempt to lower your temperature unless it gets dangerously high. A fever trains the body and immune system to recognize hostile bacteria. When a fever goes over 102 it is considered dangerous. If you suppress a fever all the time (even in kids) next time the bug visits, the body won't know how to react because you killed the symptoms and the immune system will not fight properly.

  • Cold & flus
All of the above and try; Echinecea or Goldenseal
colloidal silver, 1 teas at first then 1 teas 4 times per day.
10 - 20 mg of zinc lozenges 2-4 times a day for like 5 days.

    Viral infections
    Elderberry extract (read directions)
1-2 mg selenium daily for 5 days
Olive leaf extract or tincture (THE BOMB) 500 MG 3-4 TIMES A DAY OR READY DIRECTIONS FOR TINCTURE

    Internal Fungal
    Like Candida
    NO SUGAR!!!
Cut back on fermented foods like vinegar, beer, wine, aged cheese and any yeast.
Grape seed extract, garlic oil, and oregano oil are all perfect. Try it before taking a potent anti fungal. Also take a pro biotic to increase natural flora.
